Crowley County Jail Overview

Crowley County Jail is operated by the Crowley County Sheriff's Office at the sheriff and court complex in Ordway. The facility is the first local custody stop for a person arrested by sheriff's deputies or other local law enforcement in Crowley County. It is not the same system as Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility or Crowley County Correctional Facility, which are state-prison facilities for sentenced adult men in Colorado Department of Corrections custody.

The jail is small. Vera Institute data showed a rated capacity of 12 and a jail population of 8 on Dec. 31, 2023. KUNC later described the jail as a 14-person-capacity jail in a Feb. 15, 2025 story about jail voting. The sheriff's pages reviewed during research did not publish a daily population dashboard, housing map, booking-desk schedule, or searchable public roster table.

Crowley County Jail Capacity

The Crowley County Jail inmate population changes in small numbers. One arrest, release, bond posting, or transfer can move the count enough to affect the local bed picture. Vera's year-end data listed the jail count between 6 and 8 people from 2019 through 2023, while capacity was listed as either 12 or 14 depending on the year in that dataset.

How to Lookup Crowley County Jail Inmates

The official sheriff Inmates page exists, but the inspected page did not expose a public jail roster, search form, booking list, or profile fields. That means the correct Crowley County Jail lookup process has a fallback chain. Start with the official page, then move to direct jail contact, records, VINELink, court dockets, and state or federal locators when custody has moved out of the local jail.

  1. Check the sheriff inmate page and confirm whether a public list is visible.
  2. Call the jail or sheriff line at 719-267-5235 for current local custody questions.
  3. Use the sheriff records section for booking records, reports, and criminal justice records not online.
  4. Use Colorado VINELink for custody-status notifications.
  5. Search CDOC offender search if the person has been sentenced to prison.

The Crowley County Sheriff's Office inmate page screenshot captures why a phone and records fallback is important.

The bonding page also states that bond fees, booking fees, and other debts do not need to be paid to secure release on a money bond. Crowley County Jail Records

The sheriff Records section maintains case reports and other criminal justice data and processes release of case reports to authorized people. Records hours are Monday through Thursday, 8am to 4pm. The records page names Elissa Hall as Records Manager and gives elissa.hall@crowleycounty.net as the contact email. The page also cites C.R.S. 24-72-305.5, the Colorado anti-solicitation rule for criminal justice records.

Colorado Judicial is separate. After a jail arrest, formal court charges, hearings, and dispositions belong to Crowley Combined Court and Colorado Judicial systems. A person may need both tracks: sheriff records for the jail booking and court records for what the prosecutor filed.

The sheriff's records page gives the local records contact path for jail and sheriff records.

The research supports a basic jail intake sequence: arrest and transport, identity checks, property inventory, booking data, medical and security screening, photo and fingerprints, phone or kiosk access, first appearance, bond review, and housing classification. Housing unit names, booking desk hours, and public release timing were not found in sheriff sources.

About Crowley County Jail

Crowley County Jail is closely tied to the courthouse and sheriff functions in downtown Ordway. Sheriff Terry Reeves is named on the official command staff page, and the sheriff website also lists Undersheriff Jonathan Mazzella and Undersheriff Jim Keen. The jail pages show a facility focused on video visitation, CIDNET communications, mail controls, bonding notices, and records requests rather than a public search portal.

Religious access is documented in the research. Nondenominational jail chaplains are available, and inmates may request a clergy visit from their own faith through the kiosk in the dayroom. The sheriff bonding page also says complaints about HB 21-1280 bonding violations may be submitted on paper or through CIDNET forms to the Jail Captain.

Note: Confirm custody, visitation, and release details with the jail before traveling or paying a bond.
